SEPKU Research 丨Assistant Professor Zhao Yiling’s Summaries of Doctoral Dissertations was published in the Journal of Economics History

   Recently, the summaries of the doctoral dissertations titled “Culture, Norms, and Human Capital Accumulation in the American Higher Education History” by assistant Professor Zhao Yiling from the School of Economics at Peking University was published in the Journal of Economics History.

   The Economic History Association (EHA) selects the top three doctoral dissertations in North American economic history and the top three doctoral dissertations in non-North American economic history completed in the previous year, and publishes their summaries in the section of Summaries of Doctoral Dissertations in Journal of Economics History. The doctoral dissertation of Assistant Professor Zhao Yiling was selected as the Best Doctoral Dissertation in North American Economic History in 2021.

   The doctoral dissertation of Assistant Professor Zhao Yiling examines the history of higher education in the United States, with three chapters exploring the impact of sectarian competition on college stock, how women entered the sciences through home economics, and how departmental settings affect individual majors' choices.

Profile of Zhao Yiling

  

  Zhao Yiling, Assistant Professor of the Department of Economic History, School of Economics at Peking University, Ph.D. of Northwestern University (2020). Her research interests include cultural and gender issues in economic history. She teaches foreign economic history (undergraduate) and won the Peking University Teaching Excellence Award in 2021.
